Rhode Island lien deadlines for contractors

The short answer
In Rhode Island, prime contractors must give the owner a Notice of Possible Mechanic's Lien before starting work. To perfect a lien, mail a notice of intention to the owner by certified or registered mail and record it in the land evidence records within 200 days after doing the work. Then file a lis pendens and complaint within 40 days.
