Housecall Pro Payments fee traps to check
- American Express and every commercial, corporate or business card is billed at 3.49% however it is paid, which hits commercial and property-manager work hardest.
- The advertised "as low as 2.59%" applies only to standard cards taken in person; the same card paid on an emailed invoice is 2.99%.
- ACH is 1% with no published cap, and Housecall Pro says the fee may vary by plan.
- Instapay adds 1% to card and ACH payouts, and an extra $0.75 on any transaction under $75.
- ACH refunds must be started within 90 days of the payment and cannot be issued after that.
How to lower your Housecall Pro Payments fees
- Tap or dip cards on site (2.59%) instead of keying them or saving them on file (3.49%).
- Push large residential finals to ACH, and for commercial clients paying with business cards, ask for ACH or check to avoid 3.49%.
- Deposit paper checks through the free mobile check deposit rather than asking customers to switch to cards.
- Leave Instapay off for large payments; on a $10,000 job it adds $100.
Can you pass the fee to customers?
Unclear. Housecall Pro's pricing and payments help pages do not describe a surcharge feature. A June 2026 PR Newswire release from Yeeld (a third party, not Housecall Pro) says Yeeld partnered with Housecall Pro on surcharging; confirm availability with Housecall Pro.
Contract and cancellation
No long-term contracts, per Housecall Pro's pricing FAQ. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
