Delivery-app error charges
Can a third party dispute DoorDash or Uber Eats charges for my restaurant?
Updated · Checked against primary sources
The short answer
No. DoorDash says third-party access to the Merchant Portal and using third parties to submit error-charge disputes both go against its Portal terms. Uber says third-party services are not authorized to request refunds or resolve order issues, and it bans automated disputes. An outside service can find the charges and prepare evidence, but the owner or manager files.
Key takeaways
- Never share merchant portal credentials. DoorDash's terms make you liable for damages from shared logins.
- Uber explicitly bans bots and scripts that submit disputes in bulk.
- A compliant setup: you export reports, someone else reviews and packages evidence, your manager clicks dispute.
What the platforms actually say
DoorDash's merchant help page states: "Third-party access to the Merchant Portal goes against DoorDash's Portal terms of use, and so does using third parties to submit error charge disputes" (DoorDash). Uber's refund article says it does not allow disputes to be made in an automated manner and that third-party services are not authorized to request refunds for you (Uber).
Grubhub publishes no equivalent clause that we could find, but its terms make the merchant fully responsible for all activity under its account.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it safe to use a delivery dispute tool?
- Check how it files. A tool that logs into your portal or auto-submits disputes conflicts with DoorDash's and Uber's stated rules. A tool that reads exported reports and drafts disputes for your staff to submit does not.
